BBC Radio 1 identity

As a multi-platform brand for young people, BBC Radio 1 needed to connect more with it’s increasingly younger and more diverse audience, so we created an identity that would sit more comfortably across social and digital formats, moving it away from the tradition radio platform.

We created a series of stings, an OSP system and a bold, confident typographic language that is easy to update, keeping it fresh and always in the moment.

Shot over four days at several London locations, and at the Radio 1 Big Weekend in Glasgow, we photographed hundreds of willing participants, keen to feature in one of the stings that were created to sit alongside a wide range of events, genres and musical styles.
